Office & Site Based

This is a new opportunity to join a small well-established business who work within the construction industry.

Assist Commercial Manager in all aspects of commercial surveying, mainly office based but also visiting contracts through the Home Counties areas. Other duties will include general office administration, management of client payment certificates, data input of costings and ratings and record keeping and reporting.

Meyer-Scott introduced a candidate to this role a couple of years ago and they have since been promoted hence a new vacancy has opened. So, there is definitely room for progression.

You will be provided with training with regards to:

  • Carefully tracking costings for construction projects in play.

  • You will require very strong Excel skills.

  • Tracking costs and changes in work to be carried out is important to receive payments which are invoiced/paid in instalments, enabling the business to better challenge when the client disputes what is due.

  • Involvement in deciding what contractors are to be paid for project works carried out on site.

  • Occasionally visiting site to ensure works are completed, inspecting proposed changes to original specification to back up any changes in costs.

  • Establish a working relationship with contractors subcontracted to carry out works.

  • Building a relationship with contractors working on, on-site projects negotiating pay rates.

  • Eventually you will be managing your own smaller projects before moving onto larger projects down the line as a surveyor.

The Ideal candidate:

  • To be successful in this role you will need to be highly organised, with great attention to detail. Excellent IT skills and a confident communicator.

  • Previous administration experience is preferred, and you should be proficient in Microsoft Office especially Excel.

  • This role also requires someone who is used to working with data and has good numeracy skills.

  • You must be able to drive and have your own transport.

Hours: 42.5 Hours per week (Mon-Fri 8:00am - 5:30pm)

Benefits: 25 days holiday per annum plus statutory Bank holidays. (up to 5 days of annual leave to be taken at Christmas to coincide with the closure of the company)
