That said, there are ways to make a job interview much less stressful.Invest a little time prior to the interview getting ready, and it will be much easier to handle. The key to effective interviewing is to project confidence, stay positive, and be able to share examples of your&nbsp;workplace skills&nbsp;and your qualifications for the job.Brush up your&nbsp;communication skills, so you can speak clearly and concisely about the assets you have to offer the employer. Take the time to work on your interview skills&nbsp;- effective interviewing will help you get hired.With some advance preparation, you will be able to nail the interview and showcase the experience that makes you the ideal candidate for the company's next new employee. Interview Tips That Will Help You Get the JobHere are job interview tips to help prepare you to interview effectively. Proper preparation will help alleviate some of the stress involved in&nbsp;job interviews, and the more you prepare, the more comfortable and successful you will be at interviewing. Practice and Prepare -&nbsp;Practice your responses to the typical&nbsp;job interview questions and answers&nbsp;most employers ask. Think of concrete examples you can use to highlight your skills. The easiest way to do this is to make a list of the job requirements, and&nbsp;match them to your experience. Providing evidence of your successes is a great way to promote your candidacy. Research the Company&nbsp;-&nbsp;Do your homework about the employer and the industry, so you are ready for the interview question "What do you know about this company?"&nbsp;Try to relate what you have learned about the company when answering questions.&nbsp;Know the interviewer's name, and use it during the job interview. If you're not sure of the name, call and ask prior to the interview. Building rapport and making a&nbsp;personal connection with your interviewer&nbsp;can up your chances of getting hired. People tend to hire candidates they like, and who seem to be a good fit for the&nbsp;company culture. Get Ready Ahead of Time -&nbsp;Don't wait until the last minute to pick out an interview outfit, print extra copies of your CV, or find a notepad and pen. Have one good interview outfit ready, so you can interview on short notice without having to worry about what to wear. When you have an interview lined up, get everything ready the night before. Make sure your&nbsp;interview attire&nbsp;is neat, tidy and appropriate for the type of firm you are interviewing with. Bring a nice portfolio with extra copies of your&nbsp;resume. Include a pen and paper for note-taking. Turn off your mobile phone&nbsp;&ndash; we say turn it off not just put on vibrate.&nbsp; A vibrating phone is audible and therefore distracting for you and anyone else in the room. Be On Time (That Means Early) -&nbsp;Be on time for the interview. On time means five to ten minutes early. Read your interview details correctly. If you are local and the interview is local you may THINK you know where it is, but what if the company have moved and forgotten to take down the sign? Don&rsquo;t risk it take some time to drive to the interview location ahead of time so you know exactly where you are going and how long it will take to get there taking account of traffic. &nbsp;A few extra minutes to visit the rest room and check your outfit will calm your nerves. Here's more on&nbsp;preparing for an interview. Try to Stay Calm -&nbsp;During the job interview, try to relax and stay as calm as possible. Remember that your&nbsp;body language says as much about you&nbsp;as your answers to the questions. Proper preparation will allow you to exude confidence. Take a moment to regroup if you need it. Maintain eye contact with the interviewer. Listen to the entire question (active listening) before you answer, and pay attention - you will be embarrassed if you forget the question. Remember to breath! Show What You Know -&nbsp;Try to relate what you know about the company when answering questions.&nbsp; When discussing your career accomplishments, match them to what the company is looking for. Use examples from your research when answering questions, &ldquo;I noticed that when you implemented a new software system last year, your customer satisfaction ratings improved dramatically. I am well versed in the latest technologies from my experience with developing software at ABC, and appreciate a company who strives to be a leader in its industry.&rdquo; Take the time to&nbsp;make a match&nbsp;between your expertise and the company's requirements, and to&nbsp;sell yourself to the interviewer. Follow Up -&nbsp;If applying directly follow-up with a&nbsp;thank you&nbsp;note reiterating your interest in the position. If applying via an agency give your Consultant feedback at the earliest opportunity.

When it comes to job hunting, your CV is paramount. Get it right, and you&rsquo;ll have an interview in no time; get it wrong, and you&rsquo;ll face rejection after rejection. Every CV is different &mdash; you want to show why you&rsquo;re unique, of course &mdash; but all follow a similar structure. This guide will show you how to write a great CV.What is a CV?Your CV, short for&nbsp;curriculum vitae, is a personal marketing tool used to sell yourself to prospective employers. It should tell them about you, your professional history, and your skills; ultimately, it should show why you&rsquo;re the best candidate for the job.The basic CV formatThere are particular sections that employers expect to see on your CV regardless of industry or job role, so we recommend using the following structure:<ul><li>Contact details</li><li>Personal statement</li><li>Experience</li><li>Education</li><li>Achievements</li><li>Hobbies and interests</li><li>References</li></ul>Contact detailsThe first part of your CV, positioned at the top of the page, should contain your contact details. This is the very basic stuff: your name, physical address, email address, and phone number, although you might choose to include your LinkedIn URL, too. It&rsquo;s not necessary to include personal details such as your date of birth, marital status, or religion.Personal statementYour personal statement is one of the most important aspects of your CV. It&rsquo;s where you give an overview of who you are and inject a touch of personality. You should tailor it to every job you apply for, highlighting specific qualities that match you to the role. If you&rsquo;ve done anything you&rsquo;re particularly proud of, like completing a project or receiving a promotion, you can and should include it.It&rsquo;s only going to help the recruiter build a picture of you and your successes, so don&rsquo;t worry about what qualifies as an achievement &mdash; if you&rsquo;re proud of it, let them know.Hobbies and interestsYou don&rsquo;t need to state your hobbies and interests on your CV, but they help recruiters know more about your personality. If you have any interesting hobbies that make you shine, or if your hobbies relate to the industry you&rsquo;re going into, you can use this section to build a bigger picture of you as a person.If you&rsquo;re running low on space, don&rsquo;t worry too much; just remember that, if worded well, this section could really make you stand out.ReferencesYour referees should be your previous employers or your educational tutors, but there&rsquo;s no need to list all their details in this section. A person&rsquo;s name, physical address, contact number, and email address are common things to include.Or state that References are available upon request.Recruiters can then ask for more information if and when they need it.Explaining a gap in your CVWhether you&rsquo;ve been travelling or unemployed, sometimes there can be&nbsp;gaps in your CV. Though you may be worried, you should avoid lying about these gaps; every situation can be explained and some even used to your advantage. There are legitimate reasons for gaps, and short breaks shouldn&rsquo;t make a huge difference to your CV.If you&rsquo;ve been out of work for a long time, though, you&rsquo;ll have to explain them eventually. If using a Recruitment Agency tell them the truth giving them an opportunity to manage your application from the off!If you took time out to go travelling, you can describe your cultural experiences, and you may have even worked while you were away &mdash; it&rsquo;s not all about full moon parties and putting pictures of sunsets on Instagram. There are many interpersonal skills you can demonstrate from your time abroad, as well as other desirable characteristics like leadership, adaptability, and financial planning.Tips for CV Success1. Be creativeExperiment with the format of your CV and try to add your personal flair to the layout. In recent years, candidates have even gone digital in the form of&nbsp;video CVs&nbsp;and games, but this is usually only worth it if you&rsquo;re in a creative industry.2. Be carefulIf you choose a more creative format for your CV, don&rsquo;t let it be detrimental &mdash; don&rsquo;t choose anything too distracting or difficult to read from.3. ProofreadMake sure you triple check your CV; you don&rsquo;t want avoidable errors to hinder your chances before you&rsquo;re even through the door. Have someone else check over it, too.4. Don&rsquo;t make it too longYour CV should be no longer than one or two A4 pages. Recruiters aren&rsquo;t likely to have the time to read five pages, no matter how talented you are, that said, if every job is totally relevant then go for it, it will be a joy to read.5. Tailor each CVEvery CV you send out should be&nbsp;tailored to the role&nbsp;you&rsquo;re applying for. Sending your CV onlineIn today&rsquo;s digital world, it&rsquo;s likely that you&rsquo;ll be sending your CV via email or through a job board like CV-Library. Save your CV with the .PDF file extension to ensure that recruiters can open it on any device. A PDF will also maintain formatting, so you can be sure that employers are seeing your CV as you intended.Frequently asked CV questionsShould I include a picture?This is becoming an increasingly important discussion in the recruitment world &mdash; should CVs include pictures? With access to social media profiles, some argue that putting a picture on your CV doesn&rsquo;t make much difference. Others argue that it could lead to discrimination.
